Experience to Lead
I grew up in Orange County and attended the University of California at Irvine. After college, I moved to the Pacific Palisades and began attending law school at Southwestern Law School. I earned my law degree from Southwestern by attending school at night while working during the day. After graduating, I accepted a position in the City Attorney’s Office where I have worked for the past 25 years. I have dedicated my career to representing the People and improving the quality of life of residents. My work in the City Attorney’s Office has equipped me with the experience necessary to deal with some of the most entrenched and toughest problems that have faced our city. I know our city government and I know how to make it work smarter.
I currently serve as the Deputy Chief of the Complex and Special Litigation Division of the Criminal Branch. I have cases against large corporate banks for failing to maintain their vacant foreclosed properties spreading blight and nuisances in our neighborhoods; against insurance companies for illegal rescissions targeting women with breast cancer and other costly diagnoses; and, against billboard companies for illegal billboards and supergraphics.
Before I was appointed as a Deputy Chief, I was a Supervisor in the Safe Neighborhoods and Gang Division where I supervised the Neighborhood Prosecutor Program, the Citywide Nuisance Abatement Program, the Problem Property Resolution Team, the Slum Housing Task Force, the Narcotics Enforcement Surveillance Team, and other programs dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of life for residents of the City.
Since graduating and joining the City Attorney’s Office, I have lived and owned homes in Mar Vista and Del Rey. Having lived in Council District 11 for nearly 25 years, I know first hand what our community has to offer. From its beaches to the mountains, from LAX to the Palisades, Council District 11 offers the best of Southern California and the country. It’s is absolutely paramount that we do everything possible to preserve the district’s natural habitats, commerce and quality of life.
